Physician Mentoring

Finding a Physician Mentor is one of the many recommendations that I make to the medical students and residents I work with! If looking for a place to start, I recommend checking out  ACP Networking and Physician Mentorship !

What is Med-Peds?

So what is Med-Peds? What is a Med-Peds Physician? What makes you different than a Family Medicine Physician? These questions, and similar questions, are something that I get asked about a lot, both by med students and by patients. It's an exciting question, although a somewhat complicated answer. Before the introduction of the Med-Peds residency, if you wanted to be trained in both, you would have to complete an Internal Medicine and Pediatric residency, totaling about 6 years. Greetings and Salutations, My Name is Dr. Wood, a.k.a Dr. Wooden Bowtie. I am a Pediatric and Internal Medicine trained primary care provider. I am passionate about primary care, preventative care, and the practice of medicine. My goal is to distill down the firehose that is medical knowledge into something you can use to better help your health every day.  My alias comes from the fact that I chose to wear wooden bowties in my practice. My father loved bowties and always encouraged me to wear them whenever possible. He thought of the bowtie as so unique that anyone would wear one would always be remembered. Just before finishing my residency, my father passed suddenly. He never got to see me genuinely practice medicine on my own, so I promised to honor his wishes, and his name, with something that only someone with the last name Wood could do.  Thank you for reading, and thank you for staying. Friends are always welcome here. -Dr. Wood
